ABSTRACT
Discusses the measurement of the facet temperature and output power of uncoated aluminum gallium arsenide single quantum well lasers operated at constant current, as a function of time until catastrophical breakdown. Dependence of time to catastrophical optical damage (COD) and the pre-COD facet temperature rise rate on the diode output power.
