Examines the characteristics of K[sub 2] yellow and Rb[sub 2] orange diffuse bands excimer emissions by electron-beam excitation. Importance of the diffuse bands of alkali dimers in the development of excimer-type laser sources; Observation of the continuum spectra; Discussion of the dissociative recombination as an efficient formation process of upper states.
