Drop size distribution is an important characterizing parameter of a spray. In the present work a theoretical model has been described, based on the maximum entropy formalism principle, for the determination of the drop size distribution in a spray issued from a pressure swirl atomizer. The...

Background: Topological descriptors, other graph measures, and in a broader sense, graph-theoretical methods, have been proven as powerful tools to perform biological network analysis. However, the majority of the developed descriptors and graph-theoretical methods does not have the ability to...

The evolution of the field entropy and the entanglement between the atom and the field for the system of a single-mode vacuum field interacting with a Ξ-type three-level atom have been studied by using the reduced quantum entropy. The influences of the detuning of the light field and the...

A close analytical estimate for the combinatorial entropy of partially ordered ice phases is presented. The expression obtained is very general, as it can be used for any ice phase obeying the Bernal-Fowler rules. The only input required is a number of crystallographic parameters, and the...

An analytical relationship between the densities of the Shannon entropy and Fisher information for atomic and molecular systems has been established in this work. Two equivalent forms of the Fisher information density are introduced as well. It is found that for electron densities of atoms and...

Microalloying with 1 at. % zirconium dramatically increases the critical size from 3 to 8 mm for Gd-based bulk metallic glasses (BMGs). The enhancement of glass-forming ability originates from the increase in the packing efficiency and high compound forming tendency between Zr and major...
