We propose and demonstrate a narrow linewidth, low frequency noise Er-doped fiber ring laser with resonant feedback in a femtosecond laser induced random medium of deep refractive index modulation in three dimensions. A long-cavity single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) Brillouin fiber laser is firstly demonstrated by utilizing an unpumped Erbium-doped fiber (EDF) loop. The utilized EDF enables to form a self-induced ultra-narrow grating filter, and thus guarantees the SLM operation.

We describe the measurement of the Verdet constant of undoped and Er-doped crystalline YAG and tellurite glass at 1645 nm. The undoped YAG value is compared to those measured using visible light. We show that the paramagnetic nature of Er reduces the Verdet constant but that the decrease is...

novel sensitivity of laser-induced upconversion (UC) fluorescence dynamics to the exciting wavelength in Er:YAG crystal has been observed. A distributed feedback laser based on Sn/Er/Yb fiber is demonstrated. Unlike previous Er/Yb DFB lasers, hydrogenation is not required for grating fabrication. Single-sided output operation is obtained by directly splicing one end of the active grating to a broadband high reflecting grating, with...
