ABSTRACT
Examines a 1.3 micrometer to visible upconversion in a BaCl[sub 2]:Dy,Er phosphor system. Visibility of yellow fluorescence under a laser diode irradiation; Generation of fluorescence lines from radiative transitions; Role of Dy[sup 3+] ions at 1.3 micrometer and to Er[sup 3+] ions; Suppression of multiphoton relaxation in the upconversion process.
