ABSTRACT
Demonstrates the generation of 290 femtosecond pulses at 1.3 mum by hybrid mode-locking of a semiconductor laser and optimization of the time-bandwidth product. Recognition of the time-bandwidth product as a factor of 2.3 above the Fourier limit; Suppression of the nonlinear chip; Influence of the cavity geometry on the chirp.
