Examines the picosecond optical parametric generation and amplification in LiB[sub 3]O[sub 5] and beta-BaB[sub 2]O[sub 4] nonlinear crystals. Determination of pump-to-signal energy conversion efficiency; Details on the difference-frequency process of energy transfer; Use of thermocouple feedback system to control the temperature of the pump beam.
