ABSTRACT
Examines the coupling of indium (In) gallium arsenide/In phosphide optical waveguides with flat-end single-mode fibers. Use of the optoelectronic integrated circuit-diffusion limited etch process; Observation of radiation losses on vertical tapers; Ratio of polarization insensitive fiber to waveguide coupling losses and relaxed alignment tolerances.
