ABSTRACT
The article reports on the request of protection experts for the Association of British Insurers (ABI) to rethink its proposal to scrap total permanent disability (TPD) from critical-illness (CI) plans in Great Britain. According to ABI, it was working on a consultation paper that will allow the industry to get rid of TPD altogether. Bupa Individual Protection head of product development Steve Casey, the firm is strongly against removing TPD completely from CI plans.
