ABSTRACT
The article illustrates the procedure for trimming the excess composite resin from the cavity margins after a dental restoration. It is stated that, before starting the procedure the factor which requires attention is the property of polymerization contraction. The procedure is illustrated on a class V type cavity preparation. It is reported that, first the tooth is isolated from the oral environment, and required dryness and gingival retraction is achieved by using rubber dam and a S. S. White No. 212 cervical clamp. It is reported that, after completing dental filling with the resin, tip of a steel blade, dipped in alcohol, is placed on the gingival tooth structure, and the restoration is carved to the margin.
