The article emphasizes the importance of reporting back to donors about where their donations were spent. A survey conducted by the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy found that the recession negatively affected fundraising in the U.S. In relation to this, the author urges hospitals to be more creative in courting philanthropists and forge long-term relationships with donors. The views of William C. McGinly, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of the association, on hospital-donor relationship are highlighted. INSET: GETTING OUT THE MESSAGE.
