ABSTRACT
The article presents several factors to be considered in the need to create a national public bank for cord blood stem cells in Canada. They include, equal access for the treatment of leukemia and lymphoma in childhood, increase in ethnic diversity that would result to the union of different ethnic groups, and the reduction the time, inconvenience, and cost of harvesting. Moreover, the factors mention on the availability of funds and operations by Canadian Blood Services.
