Examines the excitation-power dependence of photoluminescence (PL) spectra and the current dependence of electroluminescence (EL) spectra of self-formed indium gallium arsenide/gallium arsenide quantum dots. Observation of peaks in the PL and EL spectra; Assignment of peaks to the discrete levels in the quantum dots; Simulation of EL spectra with rate equations.

The effects of radiation damage exposure on InGaAs quantum wells and InAs quantum dots are compared using luminescence spectroscopy techniques. A large increase in the radiation resistance of the InAs quantum dots is observed and attributed to exciton localization in the quantum dots and a point...

We present a detailed study of the interband excitonic transitions of InAs/GaAs self-organized quantum dots (QDs) based on photovoltage (PV), photoreflectance (PR) and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. At room temperature, the interband absorption transitions of QDs have been observed by...

We have fabricated and characterized donor-mode nanocavities formed by a single defect cavity defined within a two-dimensional photonic crystal slab. Quantum dots emitting in the 1.1–1.3 micron range were used as luminescence sources, and a design using fractional edge dislocations was...

Self-assembled quantum dots are typically fabricated from compressive-strained material systems, e.g., InAs on GaAs. In this letter, self-assembled quantum dots from tensile-strained GaAsN on InP are demonstrated. GaAsN on InP has type-I band alignment. Stranski-Krastanov growth mode is not...

Photoluminescence spectra showed that the excitonic peak corresponding to the interband transitions from the ground electronic subband to the ground heavy-hole band (E1-HH1) in the CdTe/ZnTe quantum dots (QDs) was shifted to a higher energy with increasing thickness of the ZnTe cap layer. The...

Luminescent semiconductor nanocrystals, so called "quantum dots" (QD), have attracted increasing interest for bioanalytical labeling applications in recent years. This review describes the major optical and (bio)chemical features of this class of label, compared with organic dyes. Different...

PbS molecular clusters and quantum dots (QDs) have been formed by heat treatment in fluorophosphate glasses of the NaO-РO-GaO-ALF-ZnO(S)-PbF system, and their spectral-luminescence characteristics have been investigated. It is experimentally shown that the transition from molecular clusters...
