ABSTRACT
The article offers information on the status of philanthropic giving of various companies amidst the economic crisis in the U.S. Data reveals that instead of decreasing its contributions to charity, majority of these firms augmented their charitable giving. According to Turney Berry, partner with Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs LLP, these philanthropic givings is considered a win-win solution because they are able to help those in need and obtain a reduction of their taxes. Moreover, the increase in philanthropic givings are advantageous to financial planning practice, like Stannard-Stockton which assets grew by 30% in 2008.
