ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the study which examines the levels of meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in the nasal cavity of pigs in Malaysia. The study, which was conducted in the Netherlands, has taken samples of nasal mucosa swab among 100 weaned pigs from five pig farms in Selangor and Perak and cultured Staphylococcus aureus in the nasal cavity of 123 pigs. The study found out that 39% of the 500 pigs sampled carried ST398, a locally common subtype of MRSA, in the nasal cavity
