ABSTRACT
Discusses time-resolved photodissociation and geminate recombination dynamics of an iodine compound in size-selected cluster ions. Use of ultrafast pump-probe techniques in conjunction with a tandem time-of-flight mass spectrometer; Absorption recovery's dependence on the composition of the surrounding cluster solvent.

Photodissociation spectra of vanadium cluster ion-xenon atom complexes V[sub n][sup +]Xe (n=5-8) have been measured between 290 and 670 nm. This work presents photodissociation spectra of Mg[sup +](CH[sub 3]OD)[sub n] (n=1-5). Mass spectrometry of the parent cluster ions shows that C-H bond cleavage occurs in the ground electronic state.
