ABSTRACT
The article presents information on the expansion strategy of Hong Kong, China-based Tai Ping Carpets International Ltd., which is owned by the Kadoorie family. The Kadoories hired James H. Kaplan as chief executive officer (CEO) from U.S. furniture-design company Knoll, for expanding the Tai Ping brand beyond Asia. Since 2003, Kaplan has opened 15 showrooms overseas to cater to interior decorators who serve celebrities and other high-net-worth individuals.
