The article reports on the plan of American LaFrance to consolidate all corporate manufacturing into the Summerville, South Carolina headquarters and manufacturing facility in 2009. President and chief executive officer (CEO) Bill Hinz cites the advantages of the consolidation, one of which is the reduction of operating costs. Also mentioned is the transfer of equipment to Summerville from other factories. The firm intends to continue building its line of fire and vocational trucks in South Carolina.
