ABSTRACT
The article offers news briefs related to the steel industry in the U.S. AK Steel Corp. posted net sales of $922.2 million in the first quarter of 2009 which implies a significant decline compared to 2008. Alcoa Inc. experienced a substantial loss of $480 million due to the economic crisis in the country. Moreover, Carpenter Technology Corp. recorded a net income of $13.1 million in the same quarter which represents a 75% down from the same period in 2008.
