ABSTRACT
The author discusses the condition of the textile industry of the U.S. as of May 2009. He claims that the number of workers in basic textiles has plunged 19 percent from April 2008 to April 2009. However, despite the employees' decreasing number, he says that increasing productivity within the industry is a major reason why the industry remains surviving. He also adds that the efforts by both consumers and businesses are playing an integral role in trimming down the imbalances in the industry.
