ABSTRACT
The article discusses the plan of U.S. President Barack Obama's administration to infuse capital as an incentive for U.S. banks to sell distressed securities to private investors. In addition, private investors will get federal loans to acquire the assets as part of a two-pronged strategy to revive mortgage-backed debt trading. U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner says that the initiative will be cheaper than having government buying the assets outright.
