ABSTRACT
The article raises questions in response to the premise delivered by U.S. President Barack Obama in a speech to bailout-seeking corporate executives stating that companies would not be going to Las Vegas, Nevada on the taxpayers' dime on meetings. Issues considered are the competitiveness of Las Vegas to offer the best rates on hotel rooms, meeting space, airfare and to provide secure facilities and professional staff. Also noted is the value that taxpayers get from face-to-face communication and shared personal experience.
