ABSTRACT
The article reports that Giant, Pathmark Stores Inc., ShopRite and Wal-Mart Stores Inc.'s Supercenter have made advances in the grocery market share in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area. However, Acme Stores saw its leading share slip to 18% from 18.9% a year ago, according to Metro Market Studies. Gainers in the market include Giant-Carlisle, that has approached Philadelphia from the north and west in recent years, adding 13 area stores that it acquired from Clemens Markets in 2006.
