ABSTRACT
The article reports on criticisms from Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) chief executive Jackie Orme against the alleged practice of blacklisting of employees by human resources (HR) managers in the British construction industry. Orme claims the practice of blacklisting raises critical ethical questions. The Consulting Association, which allegedly supplied a blacklist to 40 construction firms, has ceased trading and is facing prosecution for breach of data protection laws. It relates the actions of labor unions to the allegations.
