ABSTRACT
The article presents how Fiona Irvine, human resource (HR) director of ScotRail, managed to improve the performance and culture of the company. She related that together with the stakeholders, the company carried out workshops that were attended by more than 500 managers and staff. They also rewarded individuals who portray the company's values such as safety, integrity, quality, professionalism and accessibility. The Earn As You Learn program was designed to address numeracy and literacy problems of union learning representatives.
