ABSTRACT
The article discusses Ferdinando Stanley, also known as Lord Strange and the group of performers for whom he was the patron. The genealogy of the Stanley family is discussed, as are Stanley's education, his Protestant faith, political career, and his patronage of acting troupes and touring acrobatic performers. The article plots when and whom Stanley gave his patronage to and the acting troupe known as Leicester's Men.
