The article offers a guide to re-inventing the principles, processes and practices of management, since management innovation (MI) has a unique capacity to create long-term advantages. MI changes the way goals are set and met and changes the way managers do what they do to enhance performance. The author says that initiative, creativity and passion are gifts, and as a leader, these gifts will only be elicited when the question of what lofty cause would inspire leaders to give generously of their talents is answered.
