ABSTRACT
The article presents the opinion of Stan Rosenstein of Health Management Associates on the Medicaid program in the U.S. He says the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 is a savior for the program. Particular focus is given to the "Dear State Health Official" letter which provided guidance on Medicaid-related issues. Rosenstein notes that Medicaid is a support for the safety net. He refers to hospitals and nursing homes which are supported by Medicaid.
