The article reports on an exclusive agreement with Nippon Kayaku Co. Ltd. signed by BioSphere Medical for the planned distribution of HepaSphere and Embosphere microspheres in Japan. Under the terms of the deal, Nippon Kayaku will be in charge of regulatory strategy and providing requisite product registrations that may be needed as a condition to product registration. Furthermore, the deal calls for BioSphere to receive a $1 million milestone payment in 2009.
