Residents claim 24-hour call violates Charter rights

The article reports on the complaint of medical residents in Quebec province regarding their 24-hour on-call work schedule. They said that this scheme is a violation of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Fédération des Médecins Résidents du Québec president Dr. Martin Bernier also mentions that continuous on-call duty eventually results to increase health risks for medical residents such as car accidents and self-injuries.
