ABSTRACT
The article reports on the fight of the National Organization for Women (NOW) against the approved Proposition 8 in California which is a measure restricting marriage to opposite-sex couples only. According to the article, this decision left in limbo the marriages of 9,000 couples who had married since May 2008 when the Supreme Court of California overturned the state's ban on same-sex marriages. A joint amicus curiae brief was submitted by NOW and the Feminist Majority Foundation in January 2009.
