ABSTRACT
The article reports on several state ballot measures during the 2008 U.S. elections. In South Dakota, residents were presented with a ballot initiative that threatened to take away women's abortion rights. California's ballot that included a parental notification measure has failed for the third time. National Organization for Women (NOW) President Kim Gandy says the new administration and new Congress offer a promise for a new day on many feminist issues in the nation.
