ABSTRACT
The article reports that Long Beach in California has approved a new fire safety regulations for high rise and multi-unit residential area that requires additional retro-fitting of automatic sprinkler systems. The new city ordinance is also applied to hotels with compulsory installation of automatic sprinkler systems to all buildings. The city's Fire Department has provided alternative to fit sprinklers that require owners to submit a compliance report to the local fire departments.
