ABSTRACT
A personal narrative is presented which explores the author's experience of giving up rowing due to severe pain in her lower back because of an extra vertebra, and how she came to terms with the fact that anyone who tries to do what she was never meant to do, or to be who she was never meant to be, is bound to encounter difficulty.
