ABSTRACT
The article offers the comments of Andreas Mehl, fungicide resistance expert at Bayer CropScience Ltd., who believes that detection of resistance in the barley disease rhynchosporium to strobilurin fungicides does not mean radical changes to the fungicide programmes. He says that the finding is in only one sample from one site in northern France which is an alarm signal that needs careful and intensified activities, but not overplaying the issue as the resistance took over 10 years to develop.
