ABSTRACT
The author argues that the story of commentator George Weigel on alleged Catholic dissidents can be retraced to U.S. church history as Phantom Heresy II which addressed a nonexistent decline from orthodoxy at the time of Pope Leo XIII. He says that Weigel's introduction of Humanae vitae into the discussion over the Society of Saint Pius X may be useful because the encyclical reflects the most salient example of committed Catholics. He explores the view of Weigel on Iraq war as the radical Right supported former U.S. President George Bush.
