ABSTRACT
The article reports on CME Group's acquisition of Carvill Hurricane Index from reinsurance broker Carvill America during the week of April 5, 2009. It is mentioned that Eqecat was asked to be the calculation agent in the index which has changed its name to CME Hurricane Index (CHI). The importance of the risk modeling technology of Eqecat is also discussed which includes its ability to provide risk metrics and price property insurance risks.
