ABSTRACT
This article provides a comparative analysis of the inventories of German universities and the bibliographies which comprise the library holdings. It is noted that in the past, directories were printed annually or semi-annually and that this was the common way to document library holdings. The author explains how technology has allowed libraries to develop online-databases to document their holdings. The article provides a table that shows which German universities offer bibliographies online.
