Scraped Surface Crystallizers

The article focuses on scraped surface continuous crystallizers. A description is provided which, in effect, is a heat exchanger. The advantages of scraped surface continous crystallizers are presented along with its largest use in dewaxing lubricating oil. The separation of organic compounds through crystallization is discussed including the effect of highly viscous fluids. Reference is made to the pilot testing program being offered by Armstrong/Chemtec to determine if crystallization is the best method of separation for specific application.
