ABSTRACT
The article reports on the decline in staff grievances at West Midlands Police Force following the introduction of mediation. In addition, the number of employment tribunals at the force also declined. The police force has 15 voluntary mediators across rank and role. According to personnel adviser Andrea Pili, potential mediators are made to realise that it has to be part of their day and they have to manage their diaries on the basis of quick turnaround.
