The article addresses a course of action for the tactical employment of the headquarters and headquarters company (HHC) commander in combat, particularly the role he can play in establishing and running a joint security station (JSS) in the U.S. It cites the three specialty platoons to train and lead into combat by the company commander within the HHC, such as the scout, mortar and medical platoons. Information on the other uses for the HHC commander is provided.
