ABSTRACT
This section offers news briefs concerning Latvia. Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovski has created a government which comprises of New Era, Civic Union, For Fatherland and Freedom/LNNK, the People's Party and the Union of Greens and Farmers. The country's industrial production contracted by 23 percent year-over-year in January 2009. Real growth in wages and salaries dropped to 1 percent year-over-year in December 2008.
