The article presents the views expressed by the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) director, Steven Freudmann, about financial protection schemes being offered as alternatives to the main trade organization, being flawed. He said that the ABTA has substantial cash reserves as a result of its long experience in successfully monitoring the financial performance of its members. He remarked that handing over this responsibility to the insurance industry would be madness.
