World Steel Production Drops 24 Percent in January

The article reports on the study conducted by World Steel Association on the global crude steel production in Brussels, Belgium. During January 2009, global production has reached 86 million metric tons. All major-steel producing countries also showed a double-digit decrease during the month compared to January 2008. It also found that Japan has produced over 6.4 million tons of crude steel during the year, which is down by 37.8%.
