ABSTRACT
The article discusses the preliminary findings on the problems of the Walter Reed Army Medical Center by an army team. Among issues reported include the bureaucratic processing by the medical board, the need for standardized training for liaison officers and case managers and a restructuring of the Army's medical hold and layover companies. Improvements done since March 2007 reported by Army Brigadier General Michael Tucker and the meeting of Vice-Chief of Staff Richard D. Cody with hospital commanders every 4 to 6 weeks are provided.
