The article discusses the creation of Eco-Patent Commons (EPC), a collection of donated patents which offer direct or indirect environmental benefits like energy conservation, recycling or pollution remediation. The patents are freely available in a searchable Web site owned by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. The EPC aims to promote green innovations in environment-friendly technologies without licensing problems. The success of the Commons will reportedly depend on the usefulness and green value of the patents.
