This article announces that author Karen Clinton will read and discuss her latest work "Hazel Scott: The Pioneering Journey of a Jazz Pianist from Café Society to Hollywood to HUAC" in New York City's Abyssinian Baptist Church and the National Jazz Museum in March and April 2009. The musical talent of Scott, raised in the 1920s in Harlem, was cultivated by her musician mother Alma Long Scott and other great jazz luminaries of the era. She emergedas a star during the opening of Café Society, New York's first integrated nightclub.
