ABSTRACT
This article focuses on the withdrawal of Great Britain soldiers in southern Iraq which was referred to by Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki as the turning of a page. Great Britain has trained over 40,000 military and police personnel in preparation for their takeover of responsibility for security. However, British troop pullout does not mean that foreign troops will be gone in Basra, the major city in southern Iraq. It explains U.S. troops in smaller number will replace British troops in southern Iraq.
