ABSTRACT
The author argues that U.S. Republicans are determined to plunge the country into a depression, suggesting policies that would make matters much worse. He notes that investors are fleeing the stocks and real estate markets because they are deflating and cutting taxes on them will affect investment and jobs. He mentions House Minority Leader John Boehner who responded to the data on job losses to demand governmental spending freeze. The author believes a spending freeze is not needed during the economic downturn.
