This article reports that the full benefits of information technology (IT) would not be realized until digital communication standards are developed, according to a panel of entrepreneurs speaking at the 2009 Green:Net conference in San Francisco, California. According to Jeremy Jaech of Verdiem, he knows of no group acting independently to develop standards. The panelists pointed out that these standards are important for incorporating intelligence into the energy grid and into homes and businesses that consume energy.
